We will begin by examining the structure of the Akamai network within the country and its method for mapping traffic. We’ll delve into why traditional Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) traffic engineering techniques\u2014such as AS path prepending, Multi-Exit Discriminator (MED), and using more specific routes\u2014are often ineffective with Akamai’s intelligent routing system.<\/span><\/p>

The second half of the presentation will offer practical recommendations for network operators. Key best practices include setting up and using dedicated DNS resolvers, maintaining complete and consistent route announcements, and avoiding traffic filtering.
